So you would like to know how? Me too :)

You can request access to the Nooku Frameworks svn.
But then....?

Has anybody got a 'How to get started' tutorial?
How to install it? How to get started using it?

@Amy

I never said they are not true, they just make the whole process look so cumbersome. I don't think they are major obstacles and benefits of using a good framework are always more rewarding experience.

Here is an analogy. To open a door:

- you need to approach a door
- turn the door nob
- make sure the door is not locked
- push it back or forward
- walk through the door
- shut the door behind you

That list contains 6 items. Looks like a lot to worry about for someone who has never used a door before. But when you actually open a door and walk through, the experience is seamless and we can get out and enjoy the sun or smell the coffee.

Good frameworks are like that, they seem like a lot to worry about, but the only good way to judge them is to build a small project using that framework and actually experience the process. It makes sense to look at several projects which have been developed using that framework and find out how the experience and process was. It is the difference between the theory and being practical.

So instead of over analysing the process in theory, just walk through the door once and twice and see how it feels!
"Remember also that much of the Joomla distribution runs on cheap (or free) shared virtual servers"

I agree! the number of more sophisticated software that are developed in Joomla will always remain to be much smaller than those who will be using Joomla as a CMS and site builder. So maybe that's why Nooku could continue living as a symbiot inside Joomla rather than completly blending with it.

"may be foreign to the other 98% of Joomla users."
is the 98% number from a reliable source? Becuase I too could benefit from knowing some good stats

One more thing, from my experience when you create better options and put them out there people do end up using them. For the reasons of becoming more effective or simply not staying behind from the others.
OK. Thanks.
I'd say quite the opposite: If your component uses Nooku, then that should be a reason for many to actually choose your extension.
Some of you seem to be sceptical to try new stuff here. I say let go of your intuition and fear of the unknown, and try to systematically find out what the best approach would be.

Dan Ariely has a very nice 16 minute lecture on this topic, and more, recommended:

Grab a copy of Nooku and test it out already :)
Will you please open a new discussion for this topic in the Developer's Group if you want to continue discussing this topic, and then link back to this discussion? We are closing the forum on the home page to simplify.

Thanks!
