Some weeks ago we have finished our Joomla!Day here in Germany. One of our attendees gave me the name of a cheap and good location for our next Joomla!day. I have booked the location 2 days later, because it is so cheap that booking can't be a mistake. I'd like to offer this location for an "International Joomla! Day/Conference/Meeting".
Where it is?

It is near Wiesbaden/Frankfurt with good public transport possibilities and via Frankfurt with good flight connections worldwide. The Name is "Wilhelm-Kemp-Haus" (here the link to the Website but the site is only in German). I have booked the hole location.
What do we get?

* room for 240 attendees
* over 14 rooms for presentations or talks
* free WLAN
* modern technical equipment

and many things more, I'm perfectly happy with the location

What can we do on tree days?

I think the first day should be a "Community Day", maybe in unconference style. This day could be focused on meet people and having fun.
Second day could be a day with business topics: Business Models, Success Stories, Marketing, .... all the funny things we love and hate :-)
Last but not least, the third day could be the developers Day. Not easy to know now what is an important topic in seven months, but at the moment we need only a headline for the day and "Developers Day" is my suggestion.

There are some minor problems:

We have only 90 rooms for over night stay (prizes: 24 up to 37,50 euro/per day for a minum booking period of two days), but there are Hotels near by so I think this problem can be solved.
We have to organize a shuttle service to get all the people to the venue, but this is also a small problem.
What we need?

People they are willing to help.
Sponsors to cover the cost and for reducing the financial risk for the people they are organizing the event.

AND People they like to come to Germany.

I have spoken with many people and I got only positive response. I'd like to hear your ideas your pro or cons.

PRO! So important that we have time to meet in person as a group of hard-core Joomla! enthusiasts. I believe that will do wonders to helping our community strengthen.

My big wishlist item: For at least portion of the topics, allow community to submit proposals on talks they would like to give - and allow attendees to vote on what they wish to see.

Let's reach out to Ryan and Alex. I'm confident they will be happy to see this community driven initiative.

100% behind this and willing to help out, as needed and am able. Thanks SO MUCH!
Robert - what do you think about opening a Group for this event? Might come in handy? Or, do you have your team and place to work, etc?
Here is the link (that was not in the post)... I think:

Group is perfect. Atm I am looking for a collaboration tool to manage the project and the tasks.
OK, Cool! Later today, I'll set up a group - am interested in what kind of interaction/collaboration would be helpful to you. I am so excited to see a first ever (FINALLY) International event - and hope very much many people from all over the world help get involved and make this a blueprint for later events. I thank you so much, Robert. Be back in touch with the group!
hi,

I have set up a collaboration tool to manage the project and the tasks. Please drop me a line, if you like to help. At the moment we need to figure out some basics. We need a website-design, a slogan (maybe something like this "International Joomla Conference - because community matters"), we need a financial plan, sponsors and many things more.
RSVP HERE for the 1st International Joomla Event

There is a Group for this topic, now, please join that group and help Robert with whatever is needed to make the best first International Joomla! event we can possibly have.

Robert - I am going to close this thread - if you want it open - let me know and I'll open it. I am closing only to make it less confusing to people where to go to get involved.

The International Event Group is where one should go.
