Well as a web designer, I never get around to updating my own stuff... so I finally did it. It only took 5 months to complete (lol) and didn't really have any problems. It's funny, when I was a mechanic for 17 years, I never worked on my own car either until I absolutely had to. Must be Murphy's law.

I'm using J1.5.14 with a template I created from scratch of course, and I'm using Sobi2 with the gallery plugin for the portfolio. As for plugins, it's got tweetmeme from herdboy, disqus comments and tabs n slides from JW and fboxbot from medhi for the lightbox images in content. I used iContact for an email list, and hdxmoomenu to integrate a nice dropdown effect without installing another javascript library (more menu items to be added). It also uses bone stock joomlaSEF and XMap for the sitemap.

No real custom tweaks except look and layout.

Please give me your opinion, of course it's not done... it never is... I still have about 25 sites to add to my portfolio, I'm doing 2 to 3 a night. I also have 3 or 4 tutorials to add to the blog as well.

Yes, that looks great! Did you use a grid? Everything is perfectly lined up, even the social networking icons in the upper right. Very professional, easy navigation, great colors.

Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Amy! I don't use a grid, just adamant about keeping things aligned... it makes a difference for sure. Thanks again for the support!
Firstly, I'll admit I'm not a designer, I'm a coder. But I tend to much prefer the open/white space oriented designs such as the ones from JoomlaBamboo. Sometimes, less is more - the eye needs a place to rest. Even some of Joomlart's newer stuff is much less blocky/templaty looking. I always thought that ,JoomlArt's JA Quartz, with a dark theme, would be good for a high intensity site such as your racing site.

As for your site, I see quite a few different font styles there. The usual rule of thumb is 2. Including your logo, I can count at least 4 on your home page (Palatino Linotype???).

Also, you may want to consider rounded corners for your modules to soften the look a bit.
Thanks Royce for the input... as for fonts used, the logo stands alone with 2 fonts... and the entire rest of the site has only 2 fonts... Palatino and Trebuchet MS.
Robert - if you want to continue discussing this topic, will you please repost in the Site Builders Group, and then link back to this discussion? We are closing the home page forums for simplification. Thanks!
