We are pleased you joined us. We are a group of professionals who use Joomla! in our businesses and jobs. We are not an official Joomla! resource, and we are not a support forum for using Joomla!. If you need help using Joomla!, please use the Joomla! Forum.
To learn more about our purpose and expectations, check out the About this Site group. You are welcome to read and respond to the discussions there. You can ask questions about the site there. Ask for new features. Complain about usability. We might be able to help. We will at least sympathize!
Feel free to share a bit about yourself in the Introductions section and take time to read the introductions of others.
Discussions take place in various Groups. You are welcome to join as many groups as you wish and invited to participate in or start a new discussion. There is even an Open Group for any family-friendly topic.
There is a strong sentiment here that as professionals, we do not want to be moderated or moderate others. We agree, instead, to be polite and respectful and be responsible for our own interpersonal challenges. We will disagree. It's not a bad sign if people disagree, even strongly, it simply means people care. It can sometimes be a good idea to step away for awhile and cool off. It never hurts to apologize. It's sometimes good to step in and help when it doesn't seem a disagreement is coming to a good conclusion. It is everyone's job is to help one another.
Exceptions to "no moderation": Racist statements and personal attacks. If you are asked to remove, please do so immediately. Sorry to even have to mention this since most of us understand these types of comments are toxic and harm communities, and therefore cannot be tolerated.
Advertisement Posts for Extensions or Services: Due to abuse of this by some, we have come to an agreement by our members that advertisement of extensions and services should reside in a Group and not on the Blog. You can join and post your announcements in the Member Announcements section of the site. If you post an Announcement on the main blog, it will be deleted and you will be notified by private message. If it occurs again, you may be subject to removal from the site.
The lastest blog posts are displayed on the middle of the home page, and all of them are visible on the Blog page. Everyone is welcome to share a blog post. Blogs tend to be high interest topics, or important news or opportunities, that appeal to anyone. If it's really a discussion you are after, it might be best to use the Group discussion areas. But, there are no hard and fast rules about when to use a discussion or blog, so use your best judgment. We aren't trying to be perfect here.
If you want your post to be part of the JoomlaConnect feed, make certain the topic is focused on Joomla! and add a tag with a lowercase joomla without an exclamation point. It is important to make certain that post is about Joomla!, so think carefully before adding that tag.
Check out the Events section, too, and feel free to add Events that are Joomla! related from your area. Also, feel free to share photos or videos.
Your Profile page is yours to do with as you wish. It's a good place to add business information and promote yourself to others. Let's limit commercial self-promotion to our Profile pages and remember our best advertising will be contributions we make to the project and the way we treat one another.
Our overall goal is to help people contribute to the Joomla! community and be successful as Joomla! professionals. We support the Joomla! project. We believe in community. We understand the value of transparency, openness, collaboration, and respect. We are pleased you are part of our group and look forward to learning from you.
Wilco Jansen, Mitch Pirtle, and I (Amy Stephen) are advisers and coaches hoping very much that we might be helpful as to the community as we collaborate together, have fun, and contribute good things to the Joomla! community and project. Thanks for being a part of something special.
