What features do you want to see in the new ATAAW?
This is the first discussion on the new ATAAW site we are planning to create.
I would like to get the opinion of the members on what features you like on the current site, and what you would like to have in the new site as well.
Here's how I see this in the grand scheme of the new site build:
This discussion: Functions and Features phase. What do we want to have for communication tools on the site.
Phase 2(new topic): As outlined by this discussion, create a list of the most important key features and determine the best extensions available to meet those specific needs. If there is a specific need not readily available, determine if we have the resources to fill that need.
Phase 3(new topic): Determine a roadmap/project outline and secure the manpower needed to implement our vision and GET IT DONE.
Wishful Thinking or Aggressively Optimistic? >>> Next month we will be in our new home on a Joomla based website.
Please try to keep this discussion about the features we use the most and also what's missing from the current platform
Above ALL let's make this a fun exercise.

Front Page with multiple streams from latest blogs and comments etc...
Forum Component - Needs to be better than Ning though...
Killer Navigation System - No not GPS for your monitor... although twitter has that now.
Groups - With Blogging/Discussion Feature
Newsletter
Advanced Search
Rich Media - Video Gallery, Image Gallery, Music
Doc Downloads - PDF, Documentation, White Papers etc.. etc...
RSS feeds - Outbound for blog/articles/posts etc...
RSS feeds - inbound from j.org, etc...
Polls/Surveys - Beyond simple though...
Peer Moderation - Report Post Function?
Twitter integration
Social bookmarking
Mail Alerts
Events Calendar
Private Messages - Member<-->Member communication
Weblinks (to resources not our sites)
Resources Directory = Member Profile Page

Wiki - For Collaborative Drafting

- Multi-User Blog Feature similar to Ning now.
- Featured Posts for Blog.
- Comments on Blog Posts.

- Integrated with User Profile
- Advanced Search capability.
- User Dashboard - Should show all of your activity site wide
- Pull Events into Profile

- Multi-Categories
- A better text editor would be great especially for tutorial and guide writing.
- Some other ways to facilitate just better organization and writing of tutorials/guides.
- Voting Up/Down
- Attachments Per Article

For sure it seems that people agree about having a socialengine to enable social interaction and streams inside the community.
In this direction, at the time being anahita is the only social engine (framework) for joomla(and not only) available out there. I also think it represent the state of the art, with concepts like Domain Driven Design, and it's for sure going toward the right direction with the node-graph arhcitecture (very similar to the completely redesigned open graph arch of FB, just disclosed last week @ the F8) . What's more is based upon the powerful nooku FW where so much activity is going on and the facts talk by their self.
PS: (for you to know i represent an official anahita partner, but please don't use this argomentation to prove me wrong)
