Last night, the "Name and Logo Request" form request I was told to submit was denied. The individual processing the forms asked that I submit a domain name request, and then re-submit my request for Image use. I explained I was not asking for permission to use the Logo, that we were told by OSM to use the form I submitted since there was no form for sub domains.
Today, it sounds like I really didn't have to submit a request for a subdomain, which was consistent with my understanding.
However, we have now been asked to modify the look of the site, here is the official request:
Hi,
I am sorry for the confusion. The subdomain: http://joomladeveloper.ning.com is fine. OUr real issue is with the heading at the top of your website where it says "Joomla Developer." Since Joomla already has an offical "Joomla Developers" network, this name may cause confusion. Because of this we ask that you move the word "Joomla" to the subheading and make it smaller than the word "Developer." Also all other name rules apply, specifically including the trademark symbol next to your first use of the word Joomla and including our disclaimer at the bottom of your page.
Thank you.
Please email with with any further questions
To make it clear, and because we are not able to make the word "Joomla!" a smaller font size than the word "Developer", and since we cannot add HTML to the heading to get a small TM, I added "Unofficial" to the Title, and added the (TM) in the heading. Hopefully, that, and the several other locations the word "Unofficial" are used, will help drive home the fact that we are unofficial.
Also moved the Disclaimer from the right bottom to the center column bottom. Earlier, I had explained we cannot change the footer, so hopefully, this will be low enough on the page.
Will keep people posted. I ask kindly that we not waste too much time and energy on this since there are ways to help the project more worthy of our time.
OK, all is well. OSM is happy with the site clarifications. It's always good to be clear, and I would not want to mislead anyone, so, this turned out to be a good experience, even though we really didn't need name approval or want to use the Logo. We know OSM is okay with the site, now, and that is really good. We are all working on common goals, and I would not want the thankless job of protecting the trademark for anything. It is no fun! Thanks to the individual in OSM for her professionalism and patience. Very nice to work with. :)
Regrettably, I had to remove a racist post. I also removed the comments that contained copies of what was said. I turned off recent activity until the cache cleared. I also double checked the Joomla feed - thankfully the post did not make it to the feeed. I asked the community member to please remove it and tried unsuccessfully for about 10 minutes to get them to pull it down.
We are working with the individual and I hope we will have this resolved tomorrow. It's not an approach we want to take, but these types of posts cannot be tolerated. I'm hopeful we can get this behind us tomorrow.
I changed the site name to All Together, As A Whole and removed Joomla! from a description of the network. Given an inability to discuss the community trademark, I prefer not to use the name Joomla! unless doing so under Fair Use laws. Should allow us to explore what is of interest, anyway.

I like new colors.. but don't really get this no more joomla in the name thing..
Trademark discussion was locked this morning in the Trending forum. I'm bored of this and tired of wasting time. Since we can't even discuss the rules, I choose not to use the TM. We know who we are and we don't need to say the word in the title. With respect, I just do not want to waste any more time talking about the CMS formerly named (on this site as) Joomla!.
