As a member of the Joomla! Community I've had the initially difficult experience of seeking info about starting a JUG in the appropriate place, the joomla.org websites, and found little, if any.

Being directed to the OSM site, what we find is the same "Viacrucis" as any other user interested in getting a license to use the Joomla! trademark/copyright.

After submitting our JUG Registration we don't get any reply as to whether it was received or not.

Posting in the Registered Joomla! User Group Forum doesn't help much, as we get no answers or when we get some it takes a long time, and, of course, the known excuses are somewhat acceptable. Though we just get curious as we see people involved in the process answering newbies' questions in the main Forums. Not that that isn't necessary/important.

When will this change? (be better)
When will JUGs creation be encouraged and taken a little bit seriously?
When will JUGs websites feature the Community Showcase?
When will we stop feeling as if begging to become part the colaborative process?

Am I just going through a bad hair day? Or not?

Thank you!

The next "Ask the Team" session is April 21, 2010 4 UTC with Brad Baker and Louis Landry. Hopefully, you guys can come and ask about the status of this. It's an important question and certainly appropriate for this session.

I attended the last "Ask the team" meeting and enjoyed it. It's important to be friendly, of course, and you guys in the Brazilian community are *always* friendly. When we find a problem, like this, in our community, we just need to deal with it openly. If we need volunteers to help, volunteers can *easily* be found so hopefully we can all work together to get this fixed.

Yes, it would be good if the JUG organizing Joomla! Day Brazil 2010 was recognized prior to that time. Good goal, I think!

Hope you guys attend the meeting Wednesday, I certainly will be there too. It's a good way to talk.

Hello Amy,
Here in JoomlaCalango also await yet, unfortunately. As you know our "JUG" is organizing the JoomlaDay Brazil in 2010, to be held in September. It's a bad we are doing it without being recognized as a true JUG.

We hope to see this resolved before the event.

Thanks for your support.
Paulo and Manoel - sounds like Ole is looking into this process to see what's broken and get it fixed. He is a good one to work on this because he certainly doesn't want people waiting months to meet about Joomla!. We'll give him a bit of time and see what he says and if he could use volunteers to help with this (or just make the process easier.) Thanks for not giving up on the community! You guys are very patient.
Hi Amy!

Thank you for keeping up with this topic.

I have replied to Ole's post and am sure the process will soon improve.
Patience will always be a good friend, and improvement will arrive when positive thinking is followed by action.

The community can count on us!

Hello Amy, hello guys

It would certainly be a good goal, as you said. It is a pity that so far we have not even respond ....

Fortunately Joomla PR has been recognized recently, but still contained at least two requests from Brazil, and Brazil and JUG Joomla Calango (which belong).

I realize that there is need to expedite this process. Possibly they are understaffed for such tasks.

One suggestion would be to seize the JUGs place to evaluate new requests according to their geographical location.

Here in Brazil, for example, there is already a group of emails involving the "coordinators" of existing JUGs. It sure would help in requests from Brazil and also guess the same would happen in other countries.

Thus, the OSM would need only perform the final recognition, once the process has already been examined adequately.

Anyway, we at Joomla Calango we are available to assist as needed. Must have seen a post that I sent myself last month about accessibility in Joomla 1.6 Beta 3 (by mail to joomlabugsquad ....).

Likewise all those involved in Joomla Lizard are working in the organization of JoomlaDayBrasil 2010 which will be at September ( 4 and 5). www.joomladaybrasil.org

Thanks!
I posted in the JED group in People.j.org.

There is a new group of volunteers who are now responsible to help with this. So, let's see what they say. Please join me in the conversation there and let's hope we see more of the positive changes we have seen in other areas of the project blossom for our very important JUGs, too.
This morning, I left a note asking the Joomla! Community Leadership Team to please ... get these old applications resolved.
It sounds like Javier is helping Brazil and Sandra is helping Sandra.

I am so thankful to Sandra and Javier for helping our friends out.
OMG - I need to not post late at night.

Sandra is helping Sander. Boy. :-P So sorry!
Thank you Javier and Sandra!
I believe once the new form is filled by those who have been patiently waiting the backlog will simply disappear...

Obrigado(TY) Amy!
:)
