For this, of course Juliet meant Joomla!.

What is our name going to be? I created a group called International Event. That might as well be some United Nations event. It says nothing about Joomla! or why we'd be getting together.

Don't forget! In order to use the name Joomla!, we have to submit a name request. The closest fit I see is the Logo and name use request form.

I've been tweeting this as the Joomla! International Event since Joomla! Days have their own rules and, I believe, are limited to local communities. But, it dawns on me, we don't know what we want to call this First Ever Joomla! International Event.

What does everyone think? And Robert, if we have not submitted the form, we should do so. It won't take long to get a response, I am certain. This is an exciting community-driven initiative that I am certain everyone is behind.

I already started pricing airline tickets. I'm sure those prices will come down before May! Eek! ;-)

Have a look at the popular events on EventBrite http://www.eventbrite.com for example.

1) "The "Laugh Out Loud" Comedy Show"
2) "Streets of SF"
3) "SEA OF DREAMS"

All more than one word and having a certain meaning that relates to the event or the target visitors in some way probably.
Nobody for "JoomBeyond!" ?

My tongue finds it even easier than "J and Beyond" (but well, my tongue: some people say Dutch is not a language, but a throat disease).

What does "and Beyond" mean?
I am having trouble visualizing the concept.

Is there a conference theme to go along with this?

How will this theme connect with the potential audiences?

How do you see this incorporated into a conference description?

How do you see this incorporated into marketing materials?

How will this theme carry through into the conference topics?

Please elaborate on your "vision" on how this all ties together.

Humor me, I'm slow. Thanks.

J and Beyond (the year of the conf) -- (looking at the future during the conf)
J and Beyond (the software) -- (related services, 3pd, hosting etc)
J and Beyond (persons) -- (the community as a whole)
J and Beyond (borders) -- (international)
whatever

Be creative Ken, did you ask yourself those same questions for JoomCon? :-)
I'm ok with whatever the name or logo will be btw, all I'm saying is that there is a unique opportunity here (like Joomla! once was, we could have gone with JustCMS :-) ) to invent something totally cool and new here namely "a great yearly international event" which will hopefully be repeated many times in the future.

Because of this unique point in time I firmly believe it should be something more creative than JoomCon with a logo in J colors but that's my idea, you don't have to agree of course.
JOOMP!

or

JOOMPER (JOOMla develoPER)
I must admit - I am most fond of "Joomla! International Community Conference." To me - that's who we are and what we are doing. Then, use the bi-line for a jazzier theme that could reflect the spirit of the specific event. 2010 - J! and Beyond - sounds pretty cool. (I'm also okay with whatever is used.)

Also - I am confident that Robert talking to Ryan, our OSM Events Coordinator is the best way to proceed once a name is selected. We are going to have a great event, whether it's official or not official, and it's good to keep reaching out. I'd hope Ryan can come, and others from the project, too.

It's going to be fun!
I made a poll about the name, please make your vote: http://twtpoll.com/2as5yx

Voting will be closed in 4 days
JoomCon 2010 - The International Joomla! Conference

Sounds good, and looks like that is what it will be.

It might sound like DrupalCon, but thats not hard: [projectname]+shorter version of conference: [projectname]Con. This is the open source world, I dont think anyone will really mind or should mind.

"J and Beyond - International Joomla! Conference"
Modern fresh unique Joomlaisch

How do you see or present the J community? :-)

May I ask: beyond what?
Please read before you ask questions Erik, there is enough explanation about it here in the logo and name discussions.

This directly addresses the problem with a poll not attached to the discussions and reasons, things are presented in a to simple way.

I've said it before, I'm ok with anything but personally I feel it is a shame to not take this naming as serious as I think it should be taken. This is a for the community very important and hopefully long term and much repeated event, not a one time meet-up in a bar.

I have linked to this discussion in the poll and doing a poll don't mean that the result is the decision. I have made my decision and other people should also do it. Some people make a posting here other people don't like to post but they have made a choice. I think we need as much information as we can get.
