Sections have unique id, so does the Categories. A section and a category might share the same id which isn't a problem since the're in different tables.

I was thinking today, we know that Sections are going to disappear in J1.6 and there'll be nested categories ... during migration, current sections will be moved to the categories table in the database (or I think it will) The question is; how are we going to solve the duplicate id issue?

Will section be added to the table with new id? This will affect menus and modules.

Just a thought I wanted to share!!

I guess we will create section and categories using nested categories.. but we can decide better in group. I have thinking in start the structure/workflow something to explain "how work".
It looks to me like Matias Aguirre has already taken care of this. Or, am I mistaken? If you aren't certain, you might want to check into that thread before going further to make certain the work is still needed.

It is is, there are still calls for help from Andrew that have not been answered. Anything on this list look interesting? I would love to work on the Plugins changes - would someone like to do that with me?

Thanks guys!
I think create component its amazin cause we can migrate data when we wish, but we need proccess to migrate data on installation application. I love the Idea of plugins but when we go execute this maybe will require lot of time to process all datas..

I think it's simple, Sections shouldn't be migrated in the first place.

Just keep the categories since the sections won't be used.

If you keep the categories, all menus, modules, articles won't be affected.
The id is there, the category name is there.

Now migrating the Sections will require a lot of (unecessary) work, since it's not just the unique id but what about all those articles that have those sections and menus etc.

Just my opinion :)
is true, I liked.
