I've been coding Joomla extensions for about three years now. It took me a while to get to know the API, but I feel I'm getting a strong grasp at things now. When I firts started out, I tended to re-invent the wheel all the time. Gradually I started realizing that pretty much anything (not everything) has already been implemented, waiting readily to be deployed in our extensions. I am now trying to devise my own methods of development in an effort to speed up the development process, and I feel like that's added a whole new level to my Joomla experience.
