Hey there -- Joomla User Group New England consistently, meeting after meeting, has more women than men in attendance. At tonight's meeting, we had about 10 women and 2 men. That's pretty typical for us, but I hear we're very atypical in the community.
What's the male/female attendance ratio for your user groups?
(And if you don't have a user group, why don't you start your own?)
The Joomla! User Group Southwestern Ontario had 21 people in attendance at the first meeting last month. There were about 8 women there I believe. A great representation of ladies in my opinion. I do think that there is greater potential for more to turn out especially as they hear that there is already a good showing by the female gender. That is surely going to help encourage other ladies to come out.
The Joomla! User Group of Toronto has much fewer people turn out for their monthly pub night but we have a couple of regular ladies that are an important part of the group. Still plenty of room for improvement at this one too since the ratio is around 85% guys attending.
