Must read: HOWTO Encourage Women in Linux, the Linux Documentation Project, October 2002.
Scale 5 (2007) - Southern California Linux Expo's introduced a mini conference on 'W... that included You're a Girl!?!" by Stormy Peters.

In Scale 6 (2008) , topics on women continued, prefixed by WIOS (Women in Open Source) and integrated into the overall conference. To name a few, Danese Cooper presented "WIOS: Why Whinging Does Work, Addison Berry discussed WIOS: Open Source Mentoring, Angie Byron WIOS: Building Dynamic Websites with Drupal, Stormy PetersWIOS: What does a community manager do?

Again, in 2009 at Scale7, WIOS topics were presented, and Danese Cooper presented the keynote, Women as Open Source Alpha Geeks. (Links are not working to source.)

A call for presentations is now underway for Scale 8 to be held in 2010. Give it some thought if you want to present on this topic.
