I have used the Copy function to create a new menu. Joomla 1.5
The Copy has the template formating i.e. borders around the menu.

I changed position from left to right and it looses the borders.
I changed back to left and the borders are still missing.

I am using milkyway template

any suggestions??

Class suffix needed/needs to be removed? Never used the MW template so can't be too sure, but that's where I'd look first.
Removed _menu in the class suffix and it did not work??
You may have better luck trying the official Joomla! forums where there is a forum devoted to the templates included in the core distribution of Joomla! It's at http://forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=480.

Most of the folks here are web professionals who either develop their own templates or customize commercially available templates for their clients, and don't make use of those templates included in core distribution for anything more than testing.

Good luck.
Did you look at the template index.php file to determine the "style type" of the module in the left and right positions, re: rounded, xhtml, etc???
resp sir.
I think .some how module class suffix for that menu is removed.
edit it put "_menu" in module class suffix field back. I think this should solve the problem.

With respect, my opinion is that this question is more suitable for the Joomla! forums. We are being very careful as we interact here to preserve this resource as a professional Joomla! developers and site builders network. This is a place for people to work together to contribute to the project and for professionals to collaborate on higher level challenges. If we begin answering "how to" questions then we start to risk that networking aspect that is so needed to help us rebuild a strong, contributing community. I don't mean to be critical or off-putting, my nature is to try to help everyone. But, I know it's going to be hard for us to rebuild this professional network and it's very important to protect it. Sincere respect to Charlie. I hope that makes some sense and you'll forgive my directness.
I think Charlie's profile says it all:

"Still trying to figure it all out."

This isn't really the place for J! beginners to post questions about things that will be second-nature to a lot of us (sorry Charlie). We do need to be careful that we don't set a precedence here.

By all means, lurk and learn from us all though.
I do understand and am not offended.

I will lurk.....

I do agree with Amy and Dan both, but this network has attracted beginners to the list, so obviously, these type questions are going to come up.

@Amy Would it be a good idea to maybe start a "sticky" thread that is titled like "Joomla beginners - Read this first". Just like you do for the new peoplpe joining the site itself? Maybe we could include some basic links or something to point them over to J.org or other sites where they might find information for their questions?

I'm just trying to think of a way that we can have the beginners still interact, but in a way that they learn what they need to learn while the more seasoned developers can interact in the way we want the interactions to occur. I'm not against having beginners here as they can easily give us all cause to pause and reflect as we can sometimes get stuck in our way of thinking and miss something obvious.

Maybe a group or topic for those people that have resources they'd like to put out there for beginners, one for intermediates, and maybe one for more advanced topics? Since some of those may be commercial-based situations, they may not or may not wish to go into the Joomla Resource Directory.

Just my thoughts.
I appreciate your thoughts. Very much. I definitely believe everyone has something to offer in regards to the various initiatives we have going on here. For example, no one is better than a beginner to assist with documentation for that skill set. Helping with the Magazine is certainly something any of us can do. And so, on! So, point well made on the importance of not excluding anyone; in re-reading my response, I can see I did not express that, at all! So, I'm glad you came along and addressed that point.

I like the idea of creating a post for Joomla! Newbies that points out how to get help at the forums and where to find the good stuff. I added a discussion item on that idea in the Documentation group to see if anyone wants to champion that.

I am reluctant to create a group for beginners since that would certainly encourage questions at that level. There are many reasons why heading down that road concerns me:

1) if we have time to volunteer, we should pool our time and help out at the community forums, that's where the action is and splintering limited resources isn't helpful in the big scheme of things;

2) some at joomla.org are already concerned about this site and duplicating what is available there will increase those concerns;

3) there is no other resource that I know of where professional J! folks can get support from one another, if we want that, we'll have to work to preserve it.

Now, that sounds like a "no" and I don't intend it to be that way. This is *our place* not *my place*, so I encourage you to keep thinking on these ideas and perhaps open a discussion in the About Site group or share a blog post on any initiative you would like to see happen here.

Maybe there is an aspect of supporting professional people that makes sense to involve new people. Anything that helps the ecosystem mature is good. I am in favor of doing cool things and encourage people to talk with the group, get a discussion going, about see what we might do together.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated.
