Its a subscription service site - We arent selling components :)

Its all GPL - look in the overview what you get with which subscriptions - its even shown on the page i linked to too :)

OK, will carry on looking for something without a subscription or hidden costs or anything like that.

As its GPL it means that you dont have to keep the subscription or any other "hidden" costs.

The Subscription based model is what many of the JED team has been suggesting for us 3rd party developers - and is the way we have gone. It means that say a 12 Month Pro subscription will give you full access to download all of our extensions and updates, support, documentation etc. for 12 months - after that your software keeps working and your free to cancel your subscription at any time - there are no hidden costs, no needed subscription etc.

Ronni - I didn't see anyone suggesting that subscriptions were a problem, just that they were looking for a solution that is available without charge. That's okay, too.

I am impressed that redSHOP does this. I am also interested in hearing about other eCommerce solutions that do so.

@C O'Shea - How complex is this requirement? Is there an entire inventory? Or, a few items? Depending on how extensive your needs are, there are extensions that show and hide content within an article based on login status.

We have a complete b2b portal system built in with ACL for product categories, branding through company logo per shopper group etc. etc. can do individual price per shopper groups but also volume prices per shopper group.

Trust me when i say that i havent found a single webshop/ecommerce solution out there that has more features packed then redSHOP does - we spent over 17.500 hours making it untill now :)

I currently having one client doing this using VirtueMart. However after becoming aware of redshop some weeks ago and having had some discussion with the developer, we are very likely to switch to redshop as we are facing issues with VirtueMart which has prompted me to recommend my client to have their site rebuilt.

As one guy at a recent Joomla meet up here put it: Just because it's free doesn't mean it's cheap.

My own opinion is when it comes to e-commerce, I am looking for robustness. I have just seen too many issues with VirtueMart, and we have had to purchase plug-ins for VirtueMart, so the price difference between a paid component like redshop, which includes the functionality we need and a solution build on VirtueMart + paid components is narrowed. So I look at the total cost of ownership rather what the component cost is.

Thanks all.
there are about 15 items all low value, ranging from Eu.50 to Eu35
they are one price to non registered/approved and a lower price to registered/approved charities

i am even considering SimpleCaddy as i do sometimes have trouble with VM, or even the new k2 shopping plugin.
and before there is any confusion, i dont mind registering to download, & i will support with a tag line.
