Troubled with Extension Selection
To All the Web Site Builders...
Can I please have your input here.. Since you know that Joomla! has thousands of extensions to choose from, making it hard to choose the best among the rest.
So I decided to start creating some sort of a template list of extensions to use and of course will still explore on new ones..
My point can you guys help me with selecting extensions for the following functions:
Commercial & Non-Commercial

- FAQ (Not sure if it's the same as Q&A)
- Discussion Board
- Profiles
- Journals
- Forms
- Newsletter

Well, cogFAQ is a new, lightweight FAQ component.
JCE editor is a must I believe, Akeeba backup & jupdateman are also essential.

For a discussion board, there's two "big" Joomla! options I can think of:
1) Kunena
2) Agora
Both integrate nicely with your Joomla users. Both are good components; but:
- Kunena has the "community support" Agora seems to lack.
- Agora has a 'simpler' feel to it; which i can appreciate. But that might just be my personal opinion.
For newsletters, I can recommend Acymailing. Great tool, they've got a "free" addition that will cover most of your needs. And if you want 'more' there's always their commercial versions. -
