In fact, 1.2.5 fixes the bug, while it is still present in 1.3.1 :)

Are you sure it fixes it? With 1.3.1 the bug is still there. Only with IE9.

Interesting post - I've often come across the need for this idea of having the same extension ... twice in order to totally separate the two for different purposes. Some have come close, like JCal with allowing multiple calendars and…

Ivo, we're building this as we speak...interesting that it was being discussed here.   We're in the process of buying and implementing some 50 extensions complete with video instructions etc. We'll announce it there when done.

Marius - let's get a new blog post going on this topic. Marcos - thanks for providing the link - very good one, I had missed it. Who is up to creating a post or a discussion in the Developer group entitled "Extension changes required for…

Quote from one of the Joomla developers: "The end result is developers will likely have to make separate 1.5 and 1.6 versions of their extensions, and no 1.5 native extension will be able to install on 1.6 without slight…

New features should primarily come from extensions, not core. Would love to see us lose a lot of what's there and move towards a rich framework and distribution environment. Anyway, take time to look closely at the list. If you have time to…

Efforts on the framework are great, but this really makes the new features to come very slowly.

I posted a link to a list of changes Andrew shared on the Bug squad link. Let's remember that it always takes a bit to get to know a new release and understand the improvements made. I am aware of Klas's testing. Performance will be a…

Amy, I didn't want to prepare a full analysis, but a simple review based on the short look after release. That is why it is titled that way.

It is a big issue that after 2.5 years of development there aren't many exciting features for regular joomla user to entice people to switch. Multiple reports of Joomla 1.6 being slower will mean the PR company hired by OSM will need to work…

Joomla! 1.6 – a review from a nerd

This review is subjective, it is intended to be such and is my perception of what is going on with the CMS… or the framework.

What Joomla! 1.6 brings in fact?

- ACL – from developer point of view it is quite powerful, but…

Joomla! should skip version 1.6

6 is just not the lucky number for Joomla!

When a 6 was present in a version released, it was always buggy :)

Versions with 6 in the number, were always the one with shortest life:

1.0.6 - Less than 1 day, before it was replaced (due to major bug)

1.5.6 - Less than 1 month, before it was replaced (due to security reasons)

1.5.16 - Less than 5 days, before it was replaced (due to major bugs)

Thanks god 1.0.16 was never released :)

Probably, the next… Continue

Are template clubs in compliance with the GPL?

The FAQ section of the GPL states that GPL and Non-GPL can not be distributed "incorporated", however these can be distributed alongside.

See: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#GPLInProprietarySystem

Therefore, the question is, if it is OK for the template clubs, who put restrictions for usage of the images, css, js stuff in their templates per domain basis, but still ship the whole template… Continue

МySQL or MariaDB

It seems MySQL got forked by its original creator.
It would be interesting to know if Joomla! and other systems will support MariaDB.

http://askmonty.org/wiki/MariaDB#What_is_MariaDB.3F

P.S. Maria is the name of the second daughter of the original author Monty. The name of the first daughter is My :)
