@Parth wonderful! Looking forward to the code.

Joe LeBlanc commented on ssnobben's blog post 'Make a Joomla "Drupal" model work?'
Getting caught up on the thread here... "That's why we need an official "registry" of event names, intended functionality and —why not— places in the core code or non-core extensions utilizing them, for reference…

Jeff, yes, I'd even like to see something where we approach this as a "directory" of events. We'd have a site where developers can propose new events, then document them in the directory for everyone to use. This would get…

Joe LeBlanc commented on ssnobben's blog post 'Make a Joomla "Drupal" model work?'
I have to disagree on becoming more Drupalish. While I think there are a lot of conflicts and duplication out there, I don't think the answer is to go the One True Way approach that Drupal seems to apply to everything. I propose that we work…

Joe LeBlanc commented on ssnobben's blog post 'CMS usage statistics Drupal 42,04% popularity and Joomla 7,96 ?'
On top of that, vBulletin is listed as a CMS? Also, they're separating WordPress out as a blog, when people do in fact frequently use it as a CMS. The JavaScript stats are particularly troublesome, because many of these tools are not mutually…

Joe LeBlanc commented on ssnobben's blog post 'Now we know what Microsoft want really'
From what I've been told, the arm of Microsoft that's reaching out to Joomla (and the PHP community at large) realizes they aren't going to get programmers to switch to the .Net framework. However, they're very much interested in…

The venue was definitely clutch. While it took a bit of getting to, having the conference, after-conference, rooms, and meals all in the same building worked out extremely well. Now I know why Robert jumped on reserving it!

Joe LeBlanc commented on Robert Vining's blog post 'Are We Hurting Our Clients, Business and Site Visitors by Supporting Crappy Hosting?'
Your post is fine and this is a good discussion to bring up. I didn't really take it as a pass at Nicolas, but feel that Akeeba is a good example of where the dilemma in all this lies. I can feel where you're coming from and understand…

This is a bit of a tough call for me. I agree that if you're in the business of building sites, taking a hard stance on getting good hosting is going to be best in the long run. I remember one client of mine who asked if their usual host…

Joe LeBlanc commented on Ivo Apostolov's blog post 'Is this secure enough?'
A while back, I remember talking with a co-worker about applications that store passwords in the database, citing how insecure they were. Then he signed up for an account on our site and it sent him the email with his password in plain text. Yeah, I…

Joe LeBlanc commented on Michel van Agtmaal's blog post 'Is Joomla All American?'
Joomla can't be all American; 01 March 2010 is not an American date format! :P @Brian it's possible that the other sites are copying the date and time in as plaintext, while JoomlaConnect is interpreting the date and timezone offset in…

Joe LeBlanc commented on Amy Stephen's blog post 'Crackers infiltrate old Joomla! @GovTrends USA Congressional Web sites'
As far as Federal contracts go, the blame usually falls on the contractors rather than the software. If we did offer help, I'm not so certain that GovTrends would welcome it, or even be allowed to accept it. While I'm not a fan of people…

Actually, that's fully allowed under the GPL. While their claim that their CMS is built from the ground up is probably fallacious, you're completely free to take GPL'ed code and re-realease it under whatever name you want. As was done…

I can bike to where that development company is located. Maybe I should roll over and provide some expert help ;) But I guess they don't need it. According to the popup lightbox on their site: * We are innovators, & technologists * We are…

I started working with Mambo back in 2004 when my client wanted to use it for all of his sites. Soon after, I wrote some tutorials and components. Then the core team forked, Joomla was born, and the rest is history.

Welcome addition to any group, most especially *this* group. Many developers would benefit from reading your Learning Joomla! 1.5 Extension Development book, or even checking out some of the sample chapters. Maybe we should have a book signing event? :)

Thanks for joining in. Look forward to learning more from you.
