All Together As A Whole Mission Statement

Sorry, missed that. Still think that scope should be made more permanent and somehow incorporated in the mission statement (in a positive way) - e.g. "Be an empowered, positive, active, contributing…

All Together As A Whole Mission Statement

Looks good. Only mention of "regardless of experience" could be problematic as (in my opinion) this should not turn into another joomla general population support forum, site's scope should be limit…

PR, Marketing, Advocacy Raw Material

The fact that Sam posted in reply to my post little less than a day after my statement here regarding OSM created some doubts in my mind.. But probably a coincidence :)

Some kind of Howto section should be created, so that those articles don't get lost.

Paul, can you give us some link to that component?

Would be happy if anyone proves me wrong, but I'm afraid that there is no easy way..

You should actually look into those 2 extensions sometimes :) It works ok, with text, without text, readmore or not. Content field of com_content is one thing that is least likely to change in Joomla - JSeblod uses text codes in exactly the same way…

@Ivo: it would be interesting to hear why you think that using com_content in CCK is unacceptable ? Otherwise creating component duplicate with different folder, name and tables might be your only option in current J architecture - you don't need to…

Depends on what would you like to do - using the same component in different way is normally a matter of creating another menu with different parameters and / or linking to different categories (e.g. in photogallery). Otherwise inability to create…

Relax licensing restrictions to include GPL-compatible. Yes, please. +1 Also treating all authors the same would be nice: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/clients/crm/72 is AGPL and still published (AGPL is compatible but it is NOT GPL), wh…

Just a little side note - JSON work fine with RAW Otherwise nice tutorial, I wish more of this kind will appear in the future. Would be nice if we would have some repository for such texts (like wiki)

Just updated it to reflect current state of thing. This and much more @ J&Beyond if I'm accepted ofc :) http://jandbeyond.org/attendees/proposed-talks-and-sessions/item/65-turbocharging-your-extension.html

@Fotis You are right on the performance, but that is the price of abstraction in true CCK, but on the other hand, if I would need speed I will do my own coding. In my case K2 was simply not able to provide what I needed, but that of course does not…

Ivo, it stores only ordinary text in com_content, it just adds hooks (like any content plugin) for additional fields - and then uses plugin to transform those to actual fields. So it should be pretty safe for future upgrades.

@Ewout There is already one extension that could be placed somewherecloser the middle http://www.gmitc.biz/products/lfrm.html But this one lacks framework part to be what would probably be an ideal for me - Nooku with CCK (90% needs covered by ready…

Tried K2, Feksicontent and JSeblod. If you need simple things like comments, K2 is probably the easiest, but in my opinion it shouldn't be clasified as CCK at all. It's a click&play collection of extensions suitable for end users, but really unusabl…

he he he, nice one! I shall print and post it on my wall :)

@Amy There is a difference between not caring thinking that such efforts are futile. You can go around a rock, push it it if it is small enough, climb it, ..or even blow it up. But you can't make it move it by talking to it. As requested /me out of…

Joomla security issue - call for help on testing - extension dev's read this

As some of you might be aware, we currently have one quite complex Joomla (but not limited to Joomla) security issue that needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

I created a patch that fixes the issue for core extensions (the same principle will have to be applied for 3d party extensions that use problematic functions), but due to it's nature it is likely that fix/patch will affect any 3rd party extension that interacts with core components on deeper levels (e.g. ordinary content plugins… Continue

Unjustified code copyright claims by OSM?

Starting by quote from Luis Landry post

"No copyright holders for the Joomla! code base have ever assigned copyright to OSM. For example, I own all of the copyright for the code I have written that exists in the Joomla! code base. Similarly, anyone else who has contributed code to the Joomla! code base retains ownership of their respective copyright to that code."
