Preventing jQuery and MooTools conflicts in Joomla! on component level

Jquery and mootools are nice tools and Joomla! developers often like to use both. The drawback is that mootools must be loaded before jquery in order to make sure there won't be conflicts. So far not a big deal, but without forcing mootools to be loaded first there is a good chance that your jquery code will conflict in certain situations. To prevent that, just put this line at the top of your component entry point file (compname.php):JHTML::_('behavior.mootools'); // this will make sure…See More

Promoting Extensions Beyond the Joomla! Extensions Directory?

As a commercial extension developer, I also noticed that there is almost no business possible without being listed in the JED. Since it is a reliable and trustworthy source for 3rd party extensions this is absolutely ok and the JED curators are doing a hard work to keep it that way.

Different ways of promoting could be useful for very specialized and less popular extensions or extensions that are part of an overcrowded JED section.

But what other promotion possibilities -… Continue

Need a thesis project

I am a little behind my final BSc thesis because the company I should have done it for "exchanged" some employees and the funds for my project were cut.

So should I do a Joomla! related thesis and if yes, who may I contact? What kind of topic should I pick up and work on?

I have like 3 months time for such a thesis (+2 preparation), so if anyone has an idea where to start in the Joomla! world for this I would really appreciate suggestions

Dear Markus,

I'm wondering if we will see each other during J and Beyond (http://jandbeyond.org) in Wiesbaden this year. It could be interesting to talk about your extension or even you might consider to present it in our Joomla Solutions Lounge (Exhibition area)?
