@Alain, I have a Joomla development installation on my local host, and I symlink all the files/folders from the svn into this. I try and do folder symlinking as much as possible, but in a couple of cases I have to symlink individual files.…

Hi, it seemed to me that Alain was making packages from outside of the test site, and installing it to the test site, every time before testing:   "I try not to test my code every 5 minutes, so I code something for some time, then I create…

Hi Daniel,   I can see how putting the whole of Joomla in the svn folder, but only adding the extension files, would work ok, but I think as the project gets more complicated, things will get a bit messier and hard to navigate. For example, if…

@Alain "I try not to test my code every 5 minutes, so I code something for some time, then I create a package and I install it. Not the fastest way..."   It seems it would be better to symlink the files into Joomla, rather than making…

For SVN I use assembla, its ability to add milestones and track progress is awesome. I only keep my extension files in the svn, and I keep a the local copy of the svn in C:\repostories\myproject. Within 'myproject', all the files are…

Thats good, the library has some minor changes needed for beta3 which I will do over the next month or 2, but otherwise it is more or less ready to use.   Could you please update the development roadmap and list the library as the 'Gd…

Hi Amy, In your roadmap you have 'Wideimage Library', are you planning to integrate, the wideimage library itself, or the fork I done here: http://code.google.com/p/gd-image-library-for-joomla   Also, is there a development discussion…

Hi, I think that is an interesting idea for an extension like a media manager component, there is some discussion about extending the media manager here: http://www.alltogetherasawhole.org/profiles/blogs/breathing-new-life-to-joomlas I don't…

I also wonder if there would be possible for Joomla in future for a kind of safe non traceable copy safe solution where you make an extra extracted copy media folder with those copy safe images/media? I know for example that OsDate app have a…

I was rummaging around in the code and came across the compression parameter in the php comments so I tried using it. I didn't realize that 100 didn't mean don't compress so that explains some of the results I got. I'm just…

Hi, My guess is this is unrelated to the watermarking, bit more related to the way the php GD library works. When you save a JPEG, you can choose a quality paramater, I forgot to put this in the docs. On the…

I used the earlier version of your wide image library on a project and it was great. The one issue I have is that it almost doubles the size of the image when I add an image watermark. For instance if the original photo is 138k, the new one is 231k.…

Sounds good, can you update the road map so it has 'GDImage' in place of 'Wideimage', as these 2 are different projects now. I was thinking about calling it JImage before (eg JImage::load($path) instead of GDImage::load($path)…

What is the 'distribution for developers/site builders'? I've forked the wideimage library into a 'GDImage' library.: http://code.google.com/p/gd-image-library-for-joomla/ It still has wideimage as its core, but it's…

Image Library For Joomla 1.6 Take 2

Hi All,

I have started a gd image library project for Joomla 1.6 here:

http://code.google.com/p/gd-image-library-for-joomla/

Originally the project was a wrapper to wideimage:

But I figured it would be better to do a… Continue

WideImage Library Plugin for Joomla 1.6

Hi All,

I have been using the Wideimage (http://wideimage.sourceforge.net/) library in my gallery extension for the last couple of versions. I have spent some time of the last 2 years the making my own image functions, and experimenting with other libraries, and this is the best I have found.

Essentially it is a small PHP5 library (160KB) that is a wrapper PHP GD functions. GD works well for Joomla extensions, as although… Continue
