This is more like controversy or provocation:

Being provocative is the perfect role of the political cartoons or caricatures, or court jesters as Herman likes to refer to it. With that said, I don't think this is very provocative at all. Being really provocative you could for instance have…

I really don't see what all the fuzz is about. As I expected.

I know, I know, no need to excuse or hold back on criticism! I can take it. Feedback is good too ;) So let us know once you post the whole e-mail debacle, the article and the comic strip!

Reworking Hello World every week? Weeeell, that's a tiny exaggeration ;) We are working on it though. Please drop a comment on the mailing list, or edit the tutorial directly on the wiki if you get into the mood and you see some potential…

A community magazine should be about what's interesting for the community, and not about who someone on the CLT has got personal issues with. At JAB11, Nooku was among the best attended sessions, like last year. The only session that probably…

First I have to correct an error here: @Isidro: There was an economical barrier to get in as a Nooku Content partner, but not anymore. The Nooku Framework is released in the wild and is free for all, and has been for quite a…

@Isidro: Welcome to the party. This "noisy minority", as we're so often referred to and as you also obviously have been taught that we are, is a quite substantial part of the contributors/developers that once were/are part of Joomla.…

Herman, I admire that you insist on staying diplomatic, as objective as you can, and that you manage to not speak negatively about any individuals, as I see this as a great wrong-doing. I would definitely had expected a more bitter and hostile tone…

Not really.  Joomla will, I'm sure, have little trouble surviving and and becoming even more popular. What you see here is but a miniscule percentage of the 1000's of developers, designers, and users of all shapes and forms who are…

All so sad.  Joomla certainly may be eclipsed by newer projects if its development community continues to suffer under these conditions.  That being said, what's in place to prevent similar types of problems in other projects down the…

I've long ago moved on to being a casual observer rather than an active and frequent contributor to the Joomla community.  There are a number of reasons good and bad for this, but one of the project's basic practices that always comes…

@ Justin, the ban hammer, the exclusion delusion, the party politics and over-rated coding contributions are nothing new.  And yes, OSM too has much to answer for (there are exceptions). I'm tempted not to air these views as so much as…

What did you guys do, storm OSM offices and spray everyone down with fire extinguishers?  Put Icy Hot in Andrew's underpants? It sounds like the ban hammer landed in an unfair and arbitrary manner.  Was any of this…

The creation of an environment where innovation happens outside of the core is entirely a result of how the project has been managed.  Bannings, freezing out ... removal of key contributors — all a product of personalities and politics…

Is Joomla a meritocracy, really?

After reading a forum discussion in the Joomla.org forums where Andrew Eddie said that Joomla is not a democracy, it's a meritocracy, I felt compelled to start a new discussion. Since I like the concept of free speach, I have decided to post my view here.

By literally and explicitly coining the definition of how Joomla is… Continue

Torkil Johnsen

Just opened our new blog

On Nov. 1st it was finally published.

http://blog.bedre.no

We intend to write about web development, and do so in English. Almost 100% of our clients are Norwegians, so that hardly makes sense now does it? Well to us it does. Very few of our clients are interested in the more or less technical stuff we will be publishing there. The English userbase is naturally also alot… Continue

Hi Torkil,

could not comment on the event page, so I write here. I understand that you are being upset about the overlap in time for the events. I have spoken with the people from the "Wilhelm-Kempf-Haus" and the date we got is the last free date in 2010. I think it is important for our try to make the international event that we put the financial risk as low as we can. This location is cheap and I am sure that we wont find any other location for the price we have to pay now.

As I have put the event on ning I have seen your event, but there were not many information about the event beside the information that there is something. My fault that I haven't ask you what you will do. However I hope we can find a acceptable solution for all of us.

We need a new data model for 1.6!

Torkil - you are an extremely talented developer and designer and someone who has always thought first about what's best for the project. I appreciate your willingness to look at things from a logical point of view and to stand up for what is best. That's what makes you such a valuable community member for Joomla!. (Of course, I think your brilliant sense of humor might help you get away with things not most of us would never be able to try!)

Thanks for joining in and please do share your ideas on areas you think Joomla! developers should focus. Your input is always valued and appreciated.
