It is common knowledge within the Joomla Development Community that Joomla allows you to override the HTML output for any extension (including core ones) that use the Joomla MVC Framework. In itself, that is pretty exciting because it means that you can make an extension look however you want even without changing its core files, which would otherwise be known as "hacking" the core files.
However, what if you wanted to override more than just the HTML output? For exa
SPAM ! This is one problem that any webmaster today has to contend with in his daily tasks. If not dealt with on a fundamental level it can really become a pain in the neck & also end up in consuming time. Not removing Spam comments /registrations/ forums posts on websites can really be harmful for its reputation & credibility.
I would ask here for any ideas of reusing one and the same component many times on a web site. It can be done for the modules, but as one component has one and the same tables, this is not very useful there.
What is the question?
Imagine a extension with dozens of classes and functions that are called by it or by its modules, so renaming the extension and its tables to have a second copy of it is not exactly what I am looking for as if all classes and funct
You might remember we had started a #how2joomla twitter tag community service some months back.. Thanks to all the contributers its come to a good start & we are seeing a lot of people contribute .
To inject some more action in the community around this, we are proposing a Joomla twitterathon around this twitter tag & invite all the Joomla Community to share your Joomla Knowledge in form of short tweets.
Although several e-Commerce solutions are available for Joomla, none of them seem to meet the powerful features of the open source Magento eCommerce Platform
Last Friday I had the pleasure to join Yireo, one of our Extension Development Partners, at a MageBridge Demo and really got impressed by their approach to bridge Magento to Joomla.
My first blog here so I wanted to give you all a big thumbs up for all your positive efforts for the Joomla community. I think that thanks to your effort Joomla has been a more positive community and that open source matters has been trying very hard to be transparent and engage the joomla users. You can have a look at the SMF community to see how good we have it with Joomla.
An example of how not to manage a community can be found at SMF (a free forum software). SMF differs from… Continue
The world celebrates International Womens' Day today ( Monday 8 March 2010 ) .
I would like to wish all women involved with OSS ( Open Source Software ) in whatever way, an enjoyable International Womens' Day 2010 and acknowledge your contribution to OSS.
When creating a new account in Joomla!, the software sends an e-mail with the data of the user (including the password). However, if the server is not setup correctly (to send e-mails), the site admin will receive a return message like (similar) this:
Hello XXX,
Thank you for registering at YYY. Your account is created and must be activated before youcan use it. To activate the account click on the following link or copy-paste it in your browser: A
I am not a programmer, so I can not contribute by writing code. At best, I can look at the code, figure out what it is meant to do and possibly change some things.
But my writing is not half bad. I do understand English pretty well and my mother language is Norwegian. As I am living in Brazil, I am learning Portuguese as well. So I figure I can help with a little translation. In the beginning, it will be to Norwegian, and I know they are under-staffed.
I have been struggling with a problem with Joomla!, lately, and figured out a nifty solution I wanted to share and see if others had ideas. Joomla!'s standard Components, Modules, and Plugins just didn't fit the requirements of this Intranet application I am building. I created a very flexible architecture of Portals->Themes->Positions->Portlets->Layouts->Resources with nice customization on the frontend by users, the ability to create grou… Continue
Joomla! has a lot of business surrounding it. We all know that. But none has ever tried to attempt to make a research for the top/bottom/average prices for various services on global level. IMO, due to the nature of this site, I think it would be a great success. Last year I made such for the Bulgarian community with various questions (including control questions).
How was that organized? 1. Three sections: general information, services provided, prices for these services.… Continue
What is different in Joomla! than some other CMSs is that developers of extensions usually do not cooperate a lot. Everyone has his own vision and it is not that simple to make hooks between extensions. Therefore, if you go to JED, you may
notice that the interaction plugins/components etc. between major extensions
are usually developed by someone completely different developer.
At the moment I am trying to build something with jSeblod CCK after I tried FlexiContent some time ago. I have not tried K2 and others yet but I already I am starting to feel a preference for jSeblod, because I am positively amazed about the feature set. See this spreadsheet I found on Google for some comparisons - I am not sure if it is correct or up to date.
