I said that an year ago, I was blamed as a "community betrayer" and banned from joomla.org.
I am fine with that... but year later, it appears I was RIGHT.
After reading this blog post:
http://blogs.drstonyhills.com/2009/12/12/joomla-is-fast-becoming-a-...
and this blog post:
http://jfoobar.org/blog/331-i-have-no-words-for-joomla-leadership-a...
and this discussion (which simultaneously somehow got quite):
http://groups.google.com/group/joomla-leadership/browse_thread/thre...
and reading that the problems are not in OSM, but in the bad community:
http://groups.google.com/group/joomla-wg-community/browse_thread/th...
(it appears I am the only European banned from joomla.org)

Well, with this total ignorance of the REAL COMMUNITY (and this is the people) and the willingness to control everything, I don't think OSM should exist any longer in the way it does. It is not protection of the interests of Joomla! Its communism. I know it, I have seen it and now OSM is implementing it in the Joomla! and the Open Source World.

You know, even the secretary of OSM is lying in public. Quote from:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=1957889#p1957889
"In my term as Events Leader, there have been ZERO times where I have rejected a Joomla!Day request. With this in mind, it seems a little silly to have a request process that puts the onus on the Events Team Leader to immediately approve a Joomla!Day request before allowing people to start moving forward with their event planning"

And quote from an e-mail I received from the very same person:
"Thank you for your request to manage Joomla!Day Bulgaria 2010. While we'd
be honored to support a Joomla!Day in Bulgaria
, Open Source Matters cannot
endorse a Joomla!Day event managed by an individual that has been banned by
the Joomla! project."

You know, with this attitude, according to me, if Joomla! does not get rid off OSM, it will be the dead of the project.

And I am wondering, why OSM is pursuing local community sites and GPL extension developers and not some commercial, which are not in compliance with the GPL license. Including developers, who has templates in the core distribution.

Sorry, Ivo, but you were not banned for your comments about OSM. And, of course, OSM cannot grant you permission to host an official Joomla! Day event. I'll bet you were denied after Ryan posted that, so calling him a liar is incorrect.

You said some very threatening comments about a few women in our community. Very threatening, and I was one of them.

The fact that you are allowed to participate here is a huge sign of grace. You have not admitted your mistake or asked for any forgiveness.

I'll be honest, Ivo, many people have complained about me, and to me, and behind my back, for allowing you to be here. They have raised good points that have made me question why I am allowing you here.

You need to acknowledge that you were wrong in threatening people in our community. Frankly, unless you are able to admit it, and apologize, I think you won't be allowed to stay here. It's pretty obvious you are blaming others still, and I won't be a part of you spreading those lies.

Just curious: why were you banned from "the Joomla! project"? And I thought there were more of those "bans". All sounds so silly. I defenitely need some history-lessons about Joomla!, but don't know if I want to know it all. Maybe some people should drink a beer together and TALK a bit, like humans sometimes do. All the anger, all the frustration, what a pity.

I'll talk about the Dr. Stonyhills post later, when I have time. His post is heartbreaking. As a community, we need to pull together and help fix that problem.

It's no wonder they stopped our RSS feed with posts like this. Enough. Let's pull together here.

There are some claims in your post, Ivo, that need to be clarified.

1) I don't know who labeled you as a "community betrayer" but that's not the professionalism the project should be displaying if it was someone from OSM or Joomla. But you broke the rules and you were banned from participating in project activities. It was a fair reason and a fair response to your actions. It's done and over with so let's move on from beating that dead horse.

2) You're not the only European banned from the project. There are only three people banned from the project for past actions. It's not appropriate for me to discuss their situations in this forum.

3) The Secretary of OSM did NOT lie. When he posted that, he had never rejected an event request. Your event request was rejected two days after that because of what I mentioned in point #1. So, technically, it wasn't a lie at the time he said it and the circumstances changed two days when he processed your request.

So please be smart about your claims and situation if you want them to be taken seriously. There is a certain amount of unhappiness with OSM's approaches, but outlandish comments don't help the situation. They actually hurt it.

On a side note, the Leadership thread has gone quiet for a number of reasons. We had a dev conference, I've been sick (and so have others), and I've been trying to find a way to move the discussions forward in a positive manner. People get quickly fatigued when they have to read long novels of points and counterpoints. Hopefully, breaking down the issues and tackling them individually will make some progress. My personal goal is to help people understand the issues (some don't think there are any) and hopefully find some way to make everyone happy.

For RSS - who cares, let them censor it. Google indexes this site faster that anything I've ever seen and this should be enough for everybody.

Amy - I don't know exactly what you two had - I witnessed just a small part of it and we can discuss it in private if you wish, but baning anyone for something that is a part of a history would put you on the same side with those Joomla censors. Please - don't even think about it. Please keep those buttons locked in a sef - except that someone does something really bad.

Klas - You are right, I do not wish to discuss this. I have not seen all the posts and screen shots, but what I saw was frightening. It's important that people feel safe. Some now do not and that would is important to resolve with apologies and explanations.

@Jacques - well said! Name calling and threats will not help our (or any) Community!
