Another advantage that Joomla has over Wordpress

I found the following interview between one of the WordPress co-founders and a douchey business guy ripping off the GPL to be very interesting:

When picking an open source solution, it's just as important to consider the community behind the open source project as it is the product itself. Joomla has already gone through these issues (was it a year or two ago?) and clarified how the GPL relates to third-party extensions and enhancements. Although it was a painful process at the time, Joomla progressed through it and is a better community (and product) as a result.

I see this as an example of the Joomla project's organizational maturity over WordPress, which I think is an advantage for the overall product. The Joomla project's excellent board, organizational structure and willingness to confront these issues head-on is going to be a key part of ensuring Joomla's success.

I believe Wordpress has always taken a much more conservative view on compliance of themes to GPL than Joomla! And in my opinion, this specific disagreement between the two parties has nothing to do with the "maturity" of the two project's organizational structure, nor does it give Joomla! an advantage over Wordpress..or any other open source project.

Perhaps it might have been more accurate for me to say that Joomla's messaging/communication regarding issues like this seems to be more nuanced and organized than what I heard coming from the WordPress camp in this particular example.
