When picking an open source solution, it's just as important to consider the community behind the open source project as it is the product itself. Joomla has already gone through these issues (was it a year or two ago?) and clarified how the GPL relates to third-party extensions and enhancements. Although it was a painful process at the time, Joomla progressed through it and is a better community (and product) as a result.
I see this as an example of the Joomla project's organizational maturity over WordPress, which I think is an advantage for the overall product. The Joomla project's excellent board, organizational structure and willingness to confront these issues head-on is going to be a key part of ensuring Joomla's success.
