Case Studies of Successful Joomla Websites

Earlier this month I went to the CMS Expo in Chicago and had the chance to talk with a lot of Joomla business people from across North America.

One thing that people told me frequently was that they wanted to see more examples of Joomla success stories that they could show to potential clients when bidding for projects.

So, we've started a Joomla Portfolio section on joomla.org. Here are the first four with many more to come. If you know of sites we should include, please feel free to drop them into the comments:

Dutch Joomla Start-Up Wins Best IT Startup Award

Congratulations to Ticken.nl, the Joomla-based winner of the “best IT startup” title at the annual Thuiswinkel Awards ceremony in the Netherlands.

Thanks Steve! Nice of you to do my legwork on the new Website Case Studies section of the upcoming Joomla Community Magazine! Never expected to have someone of your expertise picking out the good ones for me!

Just kidding!

You know always look forward to the sites you share with us in the j.org sites, you seem to find the gems for sure.

Thanks as always Steve.

Oh, nice! I always welcome less work :)

These will be in-depth case studies or brief overviews like the ones above?
Comment by Robert Vining on May 25, 2010 at 9:28am
We want them to be in-depth and feature a true case study layout... this is just a summary of our documentation.

Site Owner Brief

Developer Brief

Strategy - project objective, planning (both company and dev)

Implementation - extensions, dev time etc..

Lessons Learned - effect on personnel, hindsight, expected outcome, recommendations for your peers

Support Files - screenshots, statistics etc...

Basically - The problem, the solution, the story, the bottom line

Cristina S has joined my as an editor for this category and has been a huge help putting this outline together for our case studies. I just hope we can do the community justice with our articles.

We will be looking to have guest authors, but not looking for press releases as submissions. We want them to follow the outline above and really bring something that folks can sink their teeth into each month.

Nice, that works well. In that case we'll limit ourselves to the discovery side of things .... just digging up and briefly mention interesting Joomla sites.

I have some leads for in-depth interviews that I can send over.

That would be great Steve. I agree, what you're doing with the quick overviews really gets them in the public eye as soon as you discover them and shouldn't stop.

Hope I didn't come across that way.

Thanks again.

Link in the article is to "https" instead of "http", that may be the conflict!

Actually it's missing the "www" in the article. Works with the secure setting with the the "www" but not with out it!

Hey Robert, thanks for the compliment. These sites should be on the shortlist for future case studies. Tesco is pretty new and we should add Gorillaz site to the list too.
