I'm going to add another lesson learned to Robert's list, and this is a lesson I learned.

Don't wait for permission (when there is no valid reason to do so.)

We need community acting on instinct, contributing where they know their help is needed.

In Robert's video, he also said, it's up to us to demonstrate we support the project, and that is true, as well. The way to do that is to be transparent about motive, open about plans and intent, and inclusive about allowing others to participate.

Within those principles, we are empowered to self organize, collaborate, and make Joomla! better. In fact, if we buy into the notion of community, then maybe it's even fair to say, we are, in some sense, obligated to do so.

Hi Amy and Peter,
these 4 days have been the most exciting moments that I have experienced in any conference whatsoever.
There was expertise, high level talks and sessions, exchanging, chit chatting, laughing and when 7pm approached free beers all over the place (because everybody would invite the guy/girl next to him). The conversations were engaging and really it was like alltogetherasawhole was like... there, except you could actually touch the person you were talking to.

I like to think that Robert, Alex, Brian, Ryan, Steve, Johan and co (I need to put 200 names here) have done a top notch job (a bit like Joomla, raising the barriers all the time) in demonstrating what real leadership is, they were open to everyone (like real open in the way they would NOT ignore anyone and engage in conversations) and showed with actions by the example how we, all together, do... ROCK!

My 2 cents? it was all about PASSION.
