From the blog:
"As PLT has decided to ban me and 2 fellow developers Hannes Papenberg and Amy Stephen from official development sites"
I am a bit out of the loop here, can someone please explain, or is there a blog about this somewhere?

We've got best wishes from PLT via email, Amy even got her on her birthday. No specific reason or explanation, just some mumbling about regaining peace on mailing list etc. But at least I expected it after repeatedly pointing to our paid developers getting money for doing nothing :) Just funny.

I believe that on the long term it will turn out as a really the best thing that could happen.

Guess I hadn't read to the bottom of the second post! lol.

It's just political, Matt, and we were on the non-badge side of the ball. I agree with Klas, this is going to turn into a positive (since we'll settle for nothing less.)

We are working on a distribution for developers and site builders Joomla! 1,6- and, in fact, have talked about including your Wide Image library. If you are interested in working with us, please add me to Skype (I am AmyStephen there). We'd love to involve you.

What is the 'distribution for developers/site builders'?

I've forked the wideimage library into a 'GDImage' library.:
http://code.google.com/p/gd-image-library-for-joomla/

It still has wideimage as its core, but it's been cut down and joomla'ised a lot. It will probably be a few more weeks before I'm happy with it.

This distribution is meant to be an improved version of Joomla 1.6. (built on top of it) with some improvements, additions and few obsolete things removed (e.g. com_weblinks ), reshaped in a way that it will better fit developers/site builders needs. You can see (and add your own thoughts, it is a work in a progress) a planned roadmap here: https://www.assembla.com/wiki/show/AllTogetherAsAWhole/Road_Map

One of the things we would like to add / include is your library as it would really help a lot of developers to have such library already in the distribution and not having to reinvent the wheel every time a picture needs a resize.

Klas - you have a typo in here:

This distribution is meant to be an improved version of Joomla 1.6.

Should read:

This distribution is an improved version of Joomla 1.6.

Just saying.

Sounds good, can you update the road map so it has 'GDImage' in place of 'Wideimage', as these 2 are different projects now.

I was thinking about calling it JImage before (eg JImage::load($path) instead of GDImage::load($path) ), but I don't know if the library will get included into Joomla 1.7, or whether something else will, so I'm trying to avoid any name clashes.

I will keep developing the library on google code site, currently the library is fully working, but the code needs some cleaning up/joomla-izing, and some more advanced testing of non basic things needs doing.

You can download install the library in the distribution (it's gpl lesser). If there are any issues with it give me an email, or report it in the issue tracker.

It is in beta2 now, when I do beta3 etc, it will be just a case of overwriting the files.
