Amy Stephen asked me to get involved as a crusader (she does that a lot apparently - someone needs to keep an eye on her).

Well, I can't say no.

In the last months something has been stirring within the Joomla! community. It wasn't immediately apparent but there was something out there like a slowly incubating virus (for want of a better example - but let's be topical) and now it has broken out.

Today it is very apparent that a whole mass of individuals have gotten a power surge and are enthusiastically driving the community forwards in all possible directions and often beyond the boundaries we were accustomed to.
Can you feel the buzz? It's very tangible. It's exciting and it's bringing new life into what was beginning to feel like a Joomla! lay off.

Having recently spoken with and listened to a number of the top people in the Joomla! echelons and parallel galaxies, I am myself highly motivated and I know that we are on the verge of some really innovative advancement that will benefit everyone that uses and will use Joomla!

Don't you all feel that itch? Scratch it.

Anyway, back to my Drupal project (Hey, I had no choice!)

For those who might not as familiar with Chris, he is incredibly creative and, I fear, just a tiny bit twisted, ;-)

Like a good community member, Chris has taken it upon himself to promote Joomla!. I've stumbled across his work in my Internet travels. Here's an example entitled Top 5 drawbacks of Joomla!. I read through it and got increasingly torked off, until I finally realized that I had been taken in by deliciously dry whit. Hilarious piece.

I like how Chris looks at things and how he makes people laugh. When you look at his portfolio, you'll see that he is a professional and has talent, lots of experience using Joomla!. I think he knows how to get attention in a positive way and show off Joomla!. We need that.

Chris - I love working with Drupal and WordPress. I think we have much to learn from those projects, and they could learn a few things from us, as well. So, I'm glad to hear you are on a Drupal project - would love to hear what you think when you are done. Some things with Drupal I find to be ridiculously difficult. Other things, I find to be wonderfully flexible and fun to work with. It's obvious their goal is architecture and that will - and does - pay off.

Thanks for all you do.

Thanks for the welcome Mark and Robert. Thanks for the the wonderful reference Amy.

I recently asked someone when would the Joomla! Community monthly Magazine be updated as it is more than a year old - and was told that it wouldn't. At that point I realized it was a foolish question - but it was too late!
So, I am willing to get involved with the Joomla! Rag - but I don't have the time to do a lot (that's a relative term). Would anyone out there care to join me in getting the magazine back on its feet and breathing some new life into it? It's also a great tool for getting new traffic to the site and encouraging the uptake of of Joomla!

I have not yet volunteered officially nor have I researched if there may actually be someone already on the case. Ideas, comments or insider info would be helpful.

I have personally felt the buzz and drumbeat. On July 4th weekend, I spent a great deal of time focusing on rebuilding my website with Joomla as the centerpiece in terms of services, keywords, page titles etc. While Joomla has always been the bulk of our development projects, we positioned the company to be more horizontal. We were cast in the sea of "website development". No more. We are Joomla, Open Source and SEO, baby! I am proud to have finally pushed my chips to the middle and gambled on this vertical. And I can say that this is focus and it is already paying off.

@Chris - yes, let's get that fired up. Would that be a good discussion to put in the Outreach Group forum?. I will help you with this. I'll help you find others to help, too.

@Steve - love your comment. Maybe you could provide one of the first new Magazine articles...
