...or why should the other FOSS projects have all the good ideas!

Call for: Script Writers, Director, Production Team, Camera Operators, Actors, Composers, Musicians, Graphic Designers, Promotion Team and all associated professional skills that we know we already have within the Joomla! Community ...and some financiers/philanthropists would probably be essential too!

Why: to make a promotional, positive, professional movie/video for Joomla! with a difference

Background: Linux have the 'throw it over the wall' presentation, Java have the Java 4-Ever Trailer both of which get their desired message across with great wit and skill - can we do the same for Joomla? Make an unforgettable, subtely humorous video that might even become 'viral'?

Example: Warning - a little bit of adult content! http://jz10.java.no/java-4-ever-trailer.html

What Now: If you have the skill in any of these areas are you with us? We are not thinking about a quick YouTube here - more a professionally produced 'short' that will make the name Joomla! even more unforgettable in a great way. It wouldn't be affiliated with the Project - let's say it could be a gift from the Joomla! Community to the world!

This is ambitious but very doable! Do you want to be a part of it?

ha... love the Java 4-Ever Trailer - sometimes you have to do something a little controversial to get the ball moving & bring the social/viral element!

Great idea Hils. I really enjoyed the java-4-ever clip when it was shared yesterday. It's a great clip for sure.

It might help to get a school like the Art Institute involved with something like this. They already have the equipment and talent, and could use the free publicity a viral video can bring... just a thought.

First of all - need to tell Hannes thanks for sharing this video and Hils thanks for getting this rolling.

Agree with Nicholas - script is first. Something very quirky, not at all conventional.

Brian - what if we made a talkie? With some CC music and overlays available in various languages?

Some of our creatives that could help might be Svein ( he's been involved in television for years), Ron Chatman (radio personality in Nashville), and Bo Astrup. Any other ideas?

Love this!

Along the lines of Brians 'language nuetrality' suggestion.
Hoiw about a JAB type event and everyones talking in their native languages & no ones understanding each other.
All of a sudden, someone starts talking 'techy joomla' and everyone 'just gets it'...

Only a one of many suggestions that I hope will come.... I lol'd (but i'm sad!)

Simply superb!

It would then be, really, about US, the Joomla! Community making Joomla! and being Joomla! ATAAW, all across the world!!!
+1

Philip - Nice idea! That's really great -- multilingual hackers in their homes, interacting in their own language in their local communities, going to the market, running errands, visiting with family, saying hello to their neighbors, and then communicating with one another around the world in the same language of PHP and the Joomla! Framework and API. Love it!

cheers Amy ;-)
We could quite easily make it funny, viral in some way - I just thought the community angle (i.e. joomla/php/mysql) would be good, but taking the mickey out of our native langauges... if you know what i mean.
...almost like no one understanding what the hell is going on & what people are talking about... then all of a sudden that "eureka moment!!!... they are talking about joomla/php/mysql", "we all understand that... we have a common language" ;-)
