The birth of the Joomlerios Template and more importantly, community movement

Great video from Emerson Rocha Luiz as he builds the Joomlerios Template. The video covers creating a Template, Modules, positions, and so on, as Emerson integrates tools like 960 Grid System and Bootstrap into Joomla 1.7. It is a very helpful video for professional frontend devs to see the real power of Joomla for building professional websites.

What is Joomleiro? Well, It's all about being a hacker, Joomla-style and it is the source of emerging leaders in the Joomla community. Take time to read it and let's each learn how to be Joomleiros and to support others in the community.

Update: Emerson asked that I properly recognize Nadir Alves, Paulo Griiettner, and Paulo Ries as three others who were very involved in building the Joomlerios Template. It's exciting to see the enthusiasm there.

Amy, just fix at this post: was not only me on this template. I just started the template, but humans.txt have at least 12 names (now) but will have a few more.

Its really that template is not finished, but works fine to show for others that is possible do it. Who really deserve more merit here is @griiettner, @nadiralves and @paulories that also helps explain tor outhers how to make a template from scratch.

This is a community of truth. From a simple idea started there was something important and great knowledge sharing. A success not seen before, and sosimple.

Amy, you just missed this unforgetable event, where, almost everithing happened... but the Dojoomla was great, we could sit down and show what we know and learn from others what they know... I learned a lot from this experience, but the most important thing that I learned is that drunk nerds still can code... :)

The video are showing, we, building the Joomleiros Template, but on the other side of the room, was a group of coders, trying to develop a Nooku version of JoomGen, a Joomla Component Generator, created by Dirceu Tiegs a Brazilian Hacker, so, were people every where, sharing experience, includinh Johan Jansen... it was awesome... Now, we want this kind of thing, be part of next Joomla Day Brasil... why not, be part of other Joomla Days around the Globe???

Goodness - it's sounds fabulous. I really, really, really hope to be there next year. You guys are on fire.

We need to get some community-driven lessons going - like the video above - or Drupal Dojo - I think it's time to get Bo Astrup to help us organize a video broadcast and get folks to share what they know about all kinds of software. Maybe we can dub in the languages so that it has international reach.

The concept of Joomlerios is important -- that everyone should be taking on responsibility and helping. That how it works. Appreciate what you guys are doing.

Hi,

The level of participation of all was amazing, though one not at its best, there was code, HTML5, CSS3, Skol, pressure and a lot of camaraderie!!

It was a night to be repeated. 4 hours of open knowledge and spontaneous

Joomleiros, a very active community with knowledge. ;)

Joomla! ROCKS
