Pete has already posted about it here http://www.alltogetherasawhole.org/profiles/blogs/request-for-osm-b... but maybe we should look at an other approach too.

Right now everyone has it's personal idea's about who would be the great man or woman we want to represent us and the project on the OSM board. I think most people here would love to see changes in favor of making Joomla! the great community driven project we all dream off.

So besides naming people we think are suited for the job it is also very important to get the best people for the job up there who are jumping to get their hands dirty with an incredible drive.

We are with 579 people here and I would love to see people who are willing to go for it post their profile and reasons here so we can put the AllTogther weight behind them and make it happen.

I'm thinking about things like:
- Management skills/experience
- The why would you be a great candidate
- What would you like to change
- Some story about you and Open Source and of course you and Joomla!

Don't be shy, we are all looking the same direction and we need you!

Anyone ready??

Leo, I would take the task if the community asks for it and my wife and kids are ok with it indeed :-)

I said it before, I like one year with max one year extended time limits on official positions and that is for a couple of reasons. Keep times short so people don't get to the point of burn-out or feel they own the project but most important: Allow lot's of people to learn within a huge Open Source project, Allow lot's people to show their skills and serve the community with it, keep fresh blood and ideas flowing trough the Joomla! heart.

Thanks for asking though, should I submit you? and why? :-)

I hope that was clearly (had doubts myself) enough saying I would support new people over people that have done their tour of duty for the project already without excluding people that would like to put their experience in the game again. :-)

I hope that nominations are not based on persons popularity in "Joomla Inner Circles" but on the larger picture that is Joomla.

I trust that we will all apply our minds and nominate individuals that are 100% Joomla! not persons sitting on the fence and playing their cards and manipulatiing and influencing weak persons.

This is not a time to be sentimental or personal but to be Practical.

Gosh, I'm so glad you posted that here.

I gotta say, I'm really put off by such negativity. Who are you talking about? At least name this horrible person! And to call people weak? Shame.

100% Joomla! sounds a bit cult-ish to me. Does that mean anti-Drupal and anti-WordPress?

I really want to see in the non-development part of Joomla!, a person who is a top developer, proved with the time, but however never involved significantly in the CMS itself. I think such person could bring new ideas from non-dev perspective, based on his/her experience with managing his own smaller projects or even companies.
Therefore, I think, Fotis Evangelou suits very well. He has proven himself over the time as a top developer, he showed very good skills in organizing and presenting his work. You can doubtfully find someone to say anything negative about him. So OSM needs such people, with good reputation and solid background, that will not be ruined after the first small mistake.

@ Amy, There no negativity in there , just general advice. You are glad I posted here and then only see negativity, Why ? Lets stay positive make good suggestions and offer advice. "Naming and shaming" has no place here.

No it does not mean Anti Drupal or Wordpress or OTHER PROJECTS at all, why did you leave out the other Projects ; ) . Being 100% Joomla! goes beyond just being involved with or affiliated to or contributing to other Projects, its all about Loyalty and persons that are interested in progressing Joomla! isn't it ?

The 2 Blog posts on here have some excellent suggestions for possible Candidates.

Happy Holidays to ALL together as a whole.

A++ suggestion.

Something the community might consider is to bring into the board would be someone who is involved in the "Open Source" world that is a "business leader". Examples would be like having someone like Warren Buffett sits on the board of other major world wide companies.

I know that Open Source is "fairly new" to the business world, but what about the talent pool that exists with those companies already using Joomla! as their CMS ( or in some aspect ) with their business. Those are the ones who use Joomla! that work for those companies have hopefully the skills and knowledge to fairly represent a viewpoint on "what is best" for Joomla! and the Joomla! Community!

Of course they will (should) go through the same "vetting process" as the other candidates or board members.
